A book review! Treasure Yourself: Power Thoughts for My Generation by Miranda Kerr

It would be too easy to give this book a bad review for being another book by another supermodel. Yes – the cover is pink and features a pouty Miranda – and the title is a bit naff. But the truth is I like this book. I read TREASURE YOURSELF:  Power Thoughts for My Generation  by Miranda Kerr as a prequel to the more recently published EMPOWER YOURSELF which came out in 2014. Review to follow…

Miranda Kerr clearly wasn’t aiming her book at the academia so to slag it off for being too girly or having slightly larger-than-average print would be unjust. Reading this book was a bit like having a girls night in – minus the wine, ranting about men and girly drama. So really a much more relaxing and soul-nourishing experience.

Back to Black

A beautiful blog post from a Grumpy Spiritualist. For all the other grumpy spiritualists out there struggling with this time of year. ..

Grumpy Spiritualist

This time of year is almost calculated to make us feel grumpy – the cold, the lack of money after Christmas, the knowledge that there is still a while to go until summer, long nights, seasonal affective disorder caused by lack of sunlight. I could go on….

Whilst I sailed into this year on a high with a new clarity and sense of purpose in my head, I have had an extremely grumpy week in general. Nothing circumstantially has changed dramatically in that time that accounts for it. You see I had become so used to feeling like everything was good, that I think I had grown complacent about it. Staying motivated to keep New Year resolutions can be hard, even with the best of intentions.

The Brahma Kumaris: An Introduction

Last night I visited the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (UK) for the first time. The BKWSU (UK) teaches Raja Yoga Meditation as a way of experiencing peace of mind and a positive outlook, providing opportunities to all those who seek to explore their own spirituality.

The organisation was founded in 1936 by Dada Lekhraj, in Hyderabad (at the time part of colonial India now Pakistan). After experiencing intense spiritual visions of understanding Dada Lekhraj set up the organisation under its original name of Om Mandali. Om Mandali consisted of around 400 individuals, who lived together self-sufficiently and devoted their time to intense spiritual study, meditation and self-transformation.

Today the Brahma Kumaris has organisations in over 100 countries, with its headquarters based in Mount Abu, India. Brahma Kumaris became a recognised charity in the UK in 1975. There are currently over 40 local teaching centres across the UK, being funded solely by voluntary contributions. Continue reading
